Browse by category or search for your specific question below. All answers are based on official UIDAI and government portal information.
Your Enrollment ID (EID) is printed on the acknowledgment slip you received when you enrolled at an Aadhaar enrollment centre. It is a 28-digit number that contains:
14-digit EID (the Enrollment ID itself)
Date of enrollment (DD/MM/YYYY)
Time of enrollment (HH:MM:SS)
You will need all three components — the EID, date, and time — to check your Aadhaar card status on the UIDAI portal. If you have lost your slip, you can retrieve your EID by calling the UIDAI helpline at 1947 from your registered mobile number.
After enrollment at an Aadhaar center, it typically takes 5 to 15 working days for your Aadhaar number to be generated. In some cases, especially during high-demand periods, it may take up to 90 days.
Once generated, you can download your e-Aadhaar from the myAadhaar portal. A physical Aadhaar letter will be sent to your registered address by India Post.
If your status shows “Under Process” for more than 90 days, contact UIDAI at 1947 or email help@uidai.gov.in.
UIDAI does not currently offer a direct Aadhaar status search by mobile number alone for security reasons. However, here is what you can do:
Call the UIDAI helpline at 1947 from your registered mobile number to retrieve your Enrollment ID or EID
Use the mAadhaar app on your registered mobile to access Aadhaar services including downloads and status checks
Some scheme portals like PM Kisan (pmkisan.gov.in) do allow status checks using your registered mobile number
You can verify the validity of any Aadhaar number using the official UIDAI Aadhaar Verification tool:
Visit uidai.gov.in/verify-aadhaar
Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number
Solve the captcha and submit
The system confirms whether the number exists and is valid without revealing any personal details. This is useful for employers, banks, and landlords who need to verify Aadhaar authenticity without OTP (offline verification).
Aadhaar Enrollment Status refers to the progress of your initial Aadhaar registration — whether your new Aadhaar number has been generated after your first-time biometric enrollment at an enrollment centre. You track this using your EID (Enrollment ID).
Aadhaar Update Status refers to the progress of changes or corrections submitted to an existing Aadhaar record — such as an address update, mobile number update, or name correction. You track this using your URN (Update Request Number) or SRN (Service Request Number).
Both can be tracked on the UIDAI portal but through different sections and using different reference numbers.
Once your Aadhaar status shows as generated, you can download your e-Aadhaar (digital copy) as follows:
Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in
Click “Download Aadhaar”
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number or Enrollment ID
Enter your registered mobile number and verify via OTP
Download the password-protected PDF — the password is your name’s first four letters (uppercase) + birth year (e.g., RAJE1990)
Aadhaar update timelines vary depending on the type of update and how it was submitted:
Online updates (via myAadhaar portal): Usually 5 to 30 days
Offline updates (at enrollment centres): Can take up to 90 days
Mobile number updates must be done at an enrollment centre and can take 7–30 days
You can track progress at any time using your URN on the UIDAI portal. If your update is rejected, you will need to resubmit with correct supporting documents.
If your Aadhaar update shows as Rejected, common reasons include:
Incorrect or unclear supporting documents uploaded
Documents not matching the update requested
Name mismatch between documents and your existing Aadhaar record
Expired or invalid documents
Steps to take:
Check the rejection reason in your update status on the UIDAI portal
Gather valid, clear, and matching documents
Resubmit the update request via myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in (for eligible updates) or visit your nearest enrollment centre
Yes, address updates can be done online through the myAadhaar portal. You will need:
Your Aadhaar number and OTP on registered mobile
A valid Proof of Address (PoA) document such as: utility bill, bank statement, rent agreement, passport, driving licence, voter ID — not older than 3 months
You can upload the document and submit. Once approved, your updated Aadhaar will reflect the new address and you can download the e-Aadhaar.
UIDAI also offers an Address Validation Letter service where a verifier (such as a family member or landlord) can validate your address without documents.
You can view all previous update requests and changes made to your Aadhaar record through the myAadhaar portal:
Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP
Navigate to “Aadhaar Update History” or “Service History”
View a list of all update requests with their dates, types, and statuses
This is useful to confirm that no unauthorized changes have been made to your Aadhaar record.
PVC Aadhaar Card Status
4 questions
After ordering a PVC Aadhaar card, you receive a Service Request Number (SRN). Use it to track your card:
A PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Aadhaar card is a durable, wallet-sized plastic version of your Aadhaar card, similar to a debit or credit card. Benefits include:
Water-resistant and durable — does not tear like paper
Has a QR code for easy digital verification
Includes your photo, demographics, and Aadhaar number
Features hologram, micro-text, and guilloche pattern for security
Easy to carry in your wallet
You can order one from the UIDAI portal for a nominal fee of ₹50 (inclusive of delivery).
PVC Aadhaar card delivery typically takes 5 to 15 working days from the date of order, but may take longer in remote areas. The card is dispatched via India Post Speed Post.
You will receive an SMS on your registered mobile once the card is dispatched, along with a Speed Post tracking number to monitor delivery on the India Post website.
If you haven’t received your PVC card after 30 days, check the status using your SRN or contact UIDAI at 1947.
Yes, UIDAI allows PVC card orders even for Aadhaar holders whose mobile numbers are not registered. In this case:
Visit the UIDAI portal and select “Non-Registered Mobile Number” option during order
Complete face-authentication or alternative verification
Pay ₹50 online via UPI, debit card, or credit card
However, for the easiest experience, it is recommended to first link your mobile number to your Aadhaar at the nearest enrollment centre.
PAN–Aadhaar Link Status
4 questions
To check your PAN–Aadhaar link status:
Visit the Income Tax portal at incometax.gov.in
Go to Quick Links → Link Aadhaar Status
Enter your PAN number and Aadhaar number
The portal will show whether they are linked, pending, or not linked
You can also check after logging in to the e-filing portal under My Profile → PAN Details.
Yes. The Income Tax Department has made Aadhaar–PAN linking mandatory for all Indian taxpayers (with certain exemptions). If your PAN is not linked with Aadhaar by the deadline:
Your PAN becomes inoperative
You cannot file income tax returns
Banking transactions above ₹50,000 that require PAN will be affected
TDS/TCS will be deducted at a higher rate (20% instead of applicable rate)
A penalty of ₹1,000 is charged to reactivate the PAN
Check your link status and complete linking immediately if it hasn’t been done.
You can link PAN with Aadhaar through two methods:
Method 1 — Income Tax Portal (Online):
Visit incometax.gov.in → Quick Links → Link Aadhaar
Enter your PAN, Aadhaar number, and name as per Aadhaar
Pay the challan fee of ₹1,000 (currently applicable) via e-Pay Tax
After payment, return to Link Aadhaar and complete the process
Method 2 — SMS:
Send SMS to 567678 or 56161: UIDPAN <12-digit Aadhaar> <10-digit PAN>
A name mismatch is a common reason why PAN–Aadhaar linking fails. Here is what to do:
If the name on Aadhaar is wrong: Submit a name correction request on the myAadhaar portal with supporting documents
If the name on PAN is wrong: Request a PAN correction through the NSDL or UTIITSL portal
If it is a minor spelling difference: The Income Tax portal may still allow linking by validating via OTP on your registered mobile
Ensure both documents reflect your exact legal name before attempting to link again.
Bank Account & NPCI Aadhaar Seeding
4 questions
To check your Aadhaar seeding status with your bank through NPCI, you have several options:
NPCI Portal: Visit npci.org.in and check your Aadhaar-bank mapper status
Bank Net Banking: Log in to your bank’s internet banking portal and check the Aadhaar linking or DBT section
Mobile Banking App: Many banks show Aadhaar seeding status in their official mobile apps
Bank Branch: Visit your branch and request them to check your Aadhaar seeding status
USSD Code: Feature phone users can check via USSD (varies by bank)
Aadhaar seeding with your bank account is essential for receiving Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments from the government. Without it, you may miss:
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi installments (₹6,000/year for farmers)
LPG subsidy via PAHAL scheme
Old age, widow, and disability pension disbursements
PMFBY crop insurance payouts
Scholarship amounts from various central and state schemes
MGNREGA wages and other employment scheme payments
Ensure your Aadhaar is mapped to your correct, active bank account through NPCI for uninterrupted benefit payments.
To link your Aadhaar to your bank account:
Visit your bank branch with your Aadhaar card and passbook
Submit a written request for Aadhaar seeding in your account
OR use your bank’s net banking portal or mobile app under “Link Aadhaar” or “DBT Settings”
OR use your bank’s ATM (some banks offer Aadhaar linking at ATMs)
Note: If you have multiple bank accounts, only one account can be set as your primary DBT account in the NPCI mapper at a time. You can change this at your bank.
If DBT payments are not reaching you, here are the steps to diagnose and fix the issue:
Check your NPCI Aadhaar seeding status — verify which bank account is mapped in the NPCI system
Ensure your mapped bank account is active and has no restrictions
If a wrong bank account is mapped, visit the correct bank and request re-seeding (remapping your Aadhaar to the right account)
Check whether your bank account is dormant or frozen — reactivate it if needed
Verify your Aadhaar number is correctly recorded at your bank with no typos
If the problem persists, contact the DBT Bharat helpline or your scheme’s nodal officer.
Government Scheme Status (PM Kisan, PMAY & More)
5 questions
To check PM Kisan Samman Nidhi status using your Aadhaar number:
Visit the official PM Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in
Click on “Beneficiary Status”
Select “Aadhaar Number” as the search option
Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click “Get Data”
View your payment history, installment amounts, and Aadhaar link status
You can also check using your registered mobile number or account number on the same portal.
Ration card–Aadhaar link status is checked through your state’s food department portal, as each state maintains its own public distribution system. Common portals:
Uttar Pradesh: fcs.up.gov.in
Bihar: epds.bihar.gov.in
West Bengal: wbpds.gov.in
Rajasthan: food.rajasthan.gov.in
Tamil Nadu: www.tnpds.gov.in
Maharashtra: mahafood.gov.in
On these portals, you can typically search by Aadhaar number or ration card number to check whether your ration card is active and Aadhaar-linked.
To check Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) LPG connection status using Aadhaar:
Visit your LPG provider’s website (mylpg.in for all three providers)
Or visit your gas company’s portal directly: indane.co.in, ebharatgas.com, or hpgas.co.in
Look for the “Ujjwala Status” or “Beneficiary Search” option
Enter your Aadhaar number or registered mobile number
You can also check via the DBT portal at dbtbharat.gov.in under the PAHAL/Ujjwala scheme section.
State welfare scheme status checks are done through the respective state portals. Common ones:
WB Krishak Bandhu: krishakbandhu.net — enter Aadhaar or voter ID
WB Lakshmir Bhandar: socialsecurity.wb.gov.in — search by Aadhaar
AP Amma Vodi: jaganannaammavodi.ap.gov.in — enter Aadhaar number
AP Rythu Bharosa: apagrisnet.gov.in — search by Aadhaar or farmer ID
Telangana Aasara Pension: aasara.telangana.gov.in — search by Aadhaar
Odisha CM Kisan: cmsamruddhiodisha.gov.in — enter Aadhaar
Haryana Har Chatravriti: harchhatravratti.com — search by Aadhaar
Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) pension can be checked as follows:
Visit the EPFO member portal at passbook.epfindia.gov.in
Log in with your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password
View your passbook, pension contribution, and EPS balance
Alternatively, you can check via the UMANG app which links your Aadhaar, UAN, and EPFO accounts. For pensioners already receiving EPS pension, check the EPFO Pensioners’ Portal at epfoservices.in.
To link Aadhaar to your UAN, log in to the Member Portal → KYC → Enter and verify your Aadhaar.
If your pension disbursement has stopped, check these possible reasons via your state pension portal:
Aadhaar–bank account mismatch: Your bank account mapped in NPCI may have changed or become dormant
Life certificate not submitted: Pensioners must submit a Jeevan Pramaan (digital life certificate) annually, usually in November
Beneficiary verification pending: State may require periodic re-verification of beneficiary details
Technical Aadhaar seeding error: Your Aadhaar may have become de-seeded from your bank due to bank account changes
Steps: Check pension status on the state portal by Aadhaar → Verify your bank details → Submit Jeevan Pramaan at the nearest CSC or using the Jeevan Pramaan app → Contact your district social welfare office if unresolved.
Jeevan Pramaan is a biometric-enabled digital life certificate for pensioners, required to continue receiving pension. It replaces the need to physically visit the pension office.
How to submit:
Jeevan Pramaan App: Download from Play Store, authenticate via Aadhaar biometric (fingerprint) using your smartphone’s fingerprint reader or an attached biometric device
Common Service Centres (CSC): Visit your nearest CSC and submit life certificate using biometric authentication
Bank Branch: Many banks accept Jeevan Pramaan through their Aadhaar-enabled biometric devices
Doorstep Banking: Senior citizens (70+) can request doorstep submission through their bank
Yes, widow pension and disability/differently-abled pension status can also be checked by Aadhaar through the same state portals, as most states maintain a single integrated social security portal covering all pension categories:
Haryana: pension.socialjusticehry.gov.in — covers Old Age, Widow, Destitute Child, Disability, and Ladli schemes
UP (SSPY): sspy-up.gov.in — covers Old Age, Widow, and Differently Abled pensions
Bihar (SSPMIS): elabharthi.bih.nic.in — covers all social security pension categories
WB: socialsecurity.wb.gov.in — covers Joy Bangla, Manabik (disability), and widow categories
Select the relevant pension type on the portal and search using your Aadhaar number.
Safety, Privacy & Security
6 questions
Yes, checking Aadhaar status on official UIDAI portals and government scheme portals is completely safe. UIDAI uses:
OTP-based authentication via your registered mobile
Encrypted HTTPS connections to protect your data
Biometric authentication for sensitive operations
Always verify that the URL begins with uidai.gov.in or the official .gov.in domain of the relevant scheme. CheckAadharStatus.com never asks you to enter your Aadhaar number on our site — we only guide you to official portals.
Warning: Avoid third-party apps or websites that ask you to submit your Aadhaar number, biometrics, or OTP. These are fraudulent.
UIDAI offers a Biometric Lock feature to prevent unauthorized use of your fingerprint or iris for Aadhaar authentication. To lock biometrics:
Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in
Go to “Lock/Unlock Biometrics”
Select Lock and authenticate via OTP
When locked, no one can use your fingerprint or iris to authenticate your Aadhaar, even if they have your biometric data. You can temporarily unlock for legitimate use (e.g., at a bank or hospital) and re-lock afterward.
A Virtual ID (VID) is a temporary, 16-digit revocable number linked to your Aadhaar. You can share your VID instead of your actual 12-digit Aadhaar number for authentication purposes.
Benefits:
The requesting entity cannot derive your Aadhaar number from your VID
You can generate a new VID and the old one becomes invalid
Reduces risk if your VID is exposed
To generate a VID: Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → Generate Virtual ID or send SMS to 1947: GVID <last 4 digits of Aadhaar>
UIDAI provides an Authentication History feature where you can see the last 50 authentication attempts on your Aadhaar, including when and where it was used.
To check:
Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in
Click on “Aadhaar Authentication History”
Select date range and view all authentication requests
If you see any suspicious or unauthorized authentication, immediately lock your biometrics and report to UIDAI via help@uidai.gov.in or call 1947.
The mAadhaar app is UIDAI’s official mobile application for Android and iOS. It allows you to:
Store and access your Aadhaar digitally on your phone
Generate and share QR code for offline verification
Lock/unlock biometrics
Generate Virtual ID (VID)
View authentication history
Download e-Aadhaar
Request address update
The app is completely safe as it is the official UIDAI app. Download only from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store — search “mAadhaar” by UIDAI. Avoid downloading from any third-party sources.
