You submitted your child’s details through the school months ago. The scheme promises ₹15,000 a year. But the money hasn’t arrived, and you’re not sure whether the problem lies with the school’s submission, your Aadhaar linkage, or the bank account itself. Thousands of mothers across Andhra Pradesh are in the same position right now. This guide walks you through the thalliki vandanam status check — where to check, what each status message actually means, and what to do when the answer isn’t the one you were hoping for.

What Is the Thalliki Vandanam Scheme?

Thalliki Vandanam (తల్లికి వందనం), or “Salute to Mother,” is an education support scheme run by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The premise is straightforward: no child should drop out of school because the family can’t manage the associated costs. The scheme pays ₹15,000 per student per year to the mother or guardian of children studying in Classes I to XII, including Intermediate. Of that, ₹13,000 goes directly to the mother’s bank account. The remaining ₹2,000 is routed to the school for sanitation and maintenance.

The benefit applies per child, not per family. A household with three eligible children receives the assistance three times over. The scheme was launched on 12 June 2025 and continues into the 2026-27 academic year under state government guidelines.

Thalliki Vandanam Benefits: What Eligible Families Receive

For 2026-27, the state allocated ₹10,120.78 crore to cover roughly 67 lakh students and 42 lakh mothers and guardians. Payments flow through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) — meaning the money moves straight from the government to the mother’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account. “Aadhaar-seeded” simply means the bank account is linked to Aadhaar, and “NPCI-mapped” means it’s connected to the Aadhaar-enabled payment system. Both are required for DBT credits to land successfully.

The ₹15,000 entitlement is released in instalments. The first instalment of ₹13,000 per child has already begun reaching beneficiaries, with transfers continuing over several days.

Thalliki Vandanam Eligibility Criteria: Who Qualifies?

The scheme has both student-level and family-level conditions. At the student level: the child must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh, enrolled in a recognised government, aided, or private school or junior college from Class I to XII, and maintain at least 75% attendance.

At the family level:

  • Income: Rural households must earn no more than ₹10,000 per month; urban households, no more than ₹12,000.
  • Ration card: A valid rice card (white ration card) is required.
  • Land: The family should not own more than three acres of wetland or ten acres of dry land.
  • Electricity: Average monthly consumption over the past 12 months should stay below 300 units.
  • Vehicle: No private four-wheeler in the family.
  • Government employment: No household member in a government or public sector job.
  • Excluded courses: Students in ITI, Polytechnic, or IIIT (RGUKT) do not qualify.

Orphaned or homeless children studying through registered voluntary organisations may be considered under special provisions.

Thalliki Vandanam Status Check Online: Step-by-Step

Before you start, have two things ready: the mother’s or guardian’s Aadhaar number and access to the mobile phone linked with that Aadhaar. The entire process runs on OTP verification — there is no username or password to remember.

  1. Open the Andhra Pradesh Beneficiary Management portal at bm-sgsw.ap.gov.in. The same portal may also be reachable through gsws-nbm.ap.gov.in.
  2. On the homepage, select “Thalliki Vandanam” from the list of schemes.
  3. Choose the academic year — for the current cycle, 2026-27.
  4. Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number of the mother or guardian whose account is registered for the scheme. This must be the Aadhaar linked during the application or verification process, not a different family member’s.
  5. Complete the captcha.
  6. Click “Get OTP.” The OTP goes to the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar you entered. Type it in and click “Verify” or “Submit.”
  7. The screen will display the eligibility status and payment details for the student or students linked to that Aadhaar number.

Pitfalls to watch for:

  • OTP never arrives. This almost always means the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar is outdated or inactive. You’ll need to update it through the UIDAI portal (uidai.gov.in) or at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra before you can use the online check.
  • The page times out while you wait for the OTP. If the session expires, reload and start again. Have the Aadhaar number typed out or copied beforehand so you’re not hunting for it while the clock runs.
  • You entered the wrong Aadhaar number. If you have multiple children, all their records should appear under the mother’s Aadhaar. If the screen shows “Record Not Found,” double-check the number before assuming there’s a problem with the application.

If you have multiple children in the scheme, the same Aadhaar number will typically show the status for all of them in one view.

Common Status Messages and What They Mean

Eligible / Approved: The child’s details have been verified and the beneficiary is approved. If the payment has been released, the amount will reach the mother’s account within the disbursement timeline.

Payment Credited: The funds have been transferred to the registered bank account. If your passbook doesn’t show it immediately, wait a few working days — bank processing can lag.

Payment Pending / Not Credited: The beneficiary is approved, but the payment hasn’t been processed yet. Disbursements often happen in phases, so the credit may arrive later.

Ineligible: The child or family has not met one or more eligibility conditions. The status screen may indicate the reason — income exceeding the limit, four-wheeler ownership, attendance below 75%, or another criterion.

Record Not Found: The Aadhaar number entered has no record in the Thalliki Vandanam database for the selected academic year. This could mean the child wasn’t included in the school’s submitted list, or the Aadhaar number was entered incorrectly.

Checking Thalliki Vandanam Status Offline

If you can’t complete the online check, visit your nearest Grama Secretariat or Ward Secretariat. The lists of eligible and ineligible students are published on the notice boards there. You can also approach the Ward Welfare and Education staff or Secretariat functionaries for assistance. They can confirm whether your child’s name appears on the approved list and guide you on next steps if something is missing.

What to Do If Your Child Is Marked Ineligible

The government has a grievance redressal mechanism. You can raise a grievance through the NBM portal by selecting “Create Grievance,” choosing Thalliki Vandanam as the scheme, and selecting the appropriate grievance type. Alternatively, visit your Grama or Ward Secretariat and ask the staff to register a service request through the APSeva Portal. Grievances related to four-wheeler ownership go through the District Transport Officer; income tax-related issues are escalated through the revenue department.

Keep copies of relevant documents — Aadhaar card, ration card, income certificate, bank passbook — ready when raising a grievance. The clearer you can demonstrate that your family meets the eligibility conditions, the easier it is for authorities to review your case.

Documents Required for Thalliki Vandanam

The status check itself needs only the mother’s Aadhaar number and OTP verification. But for application, verification, or grievance purposes, keep these ready:

  • Aadhaar card of the mother or guardian
  • Aadhaar card of the student
  • Rice card (white ration card)
  • Income certificate
  • Bank or post office passbook with photograph
  • MGNREGA card (if applicable)
  • Passport-size photograph of the student

The mother’s bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded and NPCI-mapped for the DBT payment to reach the account. If the account isn’t linked, the payment may fail or be returned. Verify the linkage at your bank branch or through the bank’s mobile banking app before the disbursement cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Can I check the Thalliki Vandanam status without the mother’s Aadhaar number?

No. The benefit is transferred to the mother’s bank account, and the status check is built around her Aadhaar number. The OTP goes to the mobile number linked with that Aadhaar, so you need both the Aadhaar number and access to the registered mobile.

Q2: What if the OTP is not received on the Aadhaar-linked mobile number?

Check that the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar is active and has network coverage. If the number has changed, update it in your Aadhaar records through the UIDAI portal (uidai.gov.in) or at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Without the correct mobile number, the OTP-based status check cannot be completed.

Q3: How long does it take for the payment to reflect in the bank account after the status shows “Payment Credited”?

Once the status shows “Payment Credited,” the funds are typically transferred to the bank. The time for the amount to appear in your passbook or balance can vary by bank. In most cases, it reflects within a few working days. If it doesn’t appear within a reasonable period, contact your bank branch with the transaction details.

Q4: Can a father check the Thalliki Vandanam status?

The scheme transfers benefits to the mother’s account, so the status check is built around the mother’s Aadhaar number. A father or other family member can assist by entering the mother’s Aadhaar details, provided they have access to the OTP sent to her registered mobile number.

Q5: What should I do if my child’s name is missing from the beneficiary list?

If the status check returns “Record Not Found” or shows the child as not included, visit the school and confirm that the child’s details were submitted to the School Education Department. If the school confirms submission but the name still doesn’t appear, raise a grievance through the NBM portal or at the Grama/Ward Secretariat. The earlier you raise it, the sooner it can be resolved before the next disbursement cycle.

Q6: Is there a separate portal for Thalliki Vandanam status check in 2026-27?

The official portal remains the Andhra Pradesh Beneficiary Management system at bm-sgsw.ap.gov.in. The same portal is used for the 2026-27 academic year. Select the scheme and academic year to check the current cycle’s status.

Closing Note

If your status still shows “Payment Pending” after the disbursement window for the current instalment has closed, don’t wait for the next cycle to raise it. The grievance portal stays open, and Secretariat staff can register a service request on your behalf. The earlier the issue is logged, the more likely it is to be resolved before the next round of transfers. For the most current information on timelines or rules, refer to the Andhra Pradesh Beneficiary Management portal or the official UIDAI website.
